Terms of Use
The agreement between you and Creations Magazine when you read the site or the app, join the community, or contribute. Short, because fairness does not need forty pages.
Who we are
Creations Magazine is a print and digital publication covering holistic wellness, spiritual growth, and creative inspiration, publishing since 1985 and rooted in Long Island and New York City. Using creationsmag.com, or the Creations app for iPhone and iPad, means you accept these terms; if something here does not sit right with you, the remedy is simply not to use them.
The health disclaimer that actually matters
Everything published by Creations, in print and online, is offered for information and inspiration. It is not medical advice, and it is not a substitute for the judgment of a physician or licensed practitioner who knows you. We do not publish claims that any practice or product cures, treats, or prevents disease, and nothing on this site should be read that way. Decisions about your health belong with you and your care providers.
Our content
Articles, poetry, artwork, photography, and the design of this site are protected by copyright, held by Creations Magazine or by the contributors who created them. You are welcome to read, share links, and quote briefly with credit. Republishing a piece in full requires permission: ask through the support page and we will connect you with the author. Some articles are paid placements; they are always marked advertorial.
Your content
Contributors keep ownership of the work they submit; publishing terms are described on the editorial resources page. Comments and conversation posts remain yours too, and by posting you give us permission to display them on the site.
Community conduct
The comments and conversations exist for genuine exchange between readers. We remove, and may hold for review before publishing, anything that is abusive, hateful, harassing, obscene, spam, commercial solicitation, or a claim that a product or practice cures disease. Repeated abuse ends the account. We moderate with a light hand and a human eye, but moderation decisions are ours and are final.
There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behavior here. Everything posted is screened before it appears, and every reply and conversation post carries a menu to report it or to block the person who wrote it. Reports are read by a person and acted on within 24 hours, which can mean removing the post, ending the account, or both. Blocking is private: the person is not told, and you simply stop seeing anything they write.
Accounts
Accounts are signed in with a one-time emailed code; keep access to your email secure, since it is the key to your account. You are responsible for what is posted from your account. You can leave at any time, and you do not have to ask: the app deletes your account outright from the account screen, taking your replies, posts and likes with it. If you would rather we did it, write to [email protected].
Advertising
Advertising keeps the magazine free. Advertisers are responsible for the claims in their own ads, and an ad in Creations is not our endorsement of every claim it makes. Advertising terms, specs, and rates live on the advertise page.
The app
The Creations app is free, and we license it to you for personal, non-commercial use on Apple devices you own or control, as Apple's own App Store terms allow. You may not sell it, rent it, reverse-engineer it, or strip out the parts you like.
Some plain acknowledgments Apple asks us to make, which are true of every app bought through its store: this agreement is between you and Creations Magazine, not Apple, and Apple is not responsible for the app or its contents. Apple has no obligation to provide support for it — that is ours, at our contact page. If the app fails to conform to any warranty, you may tell Apple and Apple will refund what you paid for it, which for a free app is nothing; beyond that refund, Apple has no other warranty obligation. We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claim about the app, including product-liability claims, claims that it fails a legal requirement, and claims under consumer protection or privacy law. We, not Apple, are responsible for investigating and settling any claim that the app infringes someone's intellectual property. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
The limits of our responsibility
The site and the app are provided as they are, without warranties. To the fullest extent the law allows, Creations Magazine is not liable for damages arising from use of the site or the app, reliance on its content, or the conduct of other users or advertisers. External links leave our responsibility at the door they open.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms; the date above always reflects the current version, and meaningful changes will be noted in the newsletter. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York. Questions: [email protected].
