The role

Advertising Sales Representative (commission)

Wellness practitioners and holistic businesses want to reach people who are already looking for what they offer, and most of them are stuck choosing between a social ad they scroll past and a listing site that buries them next to a hundred competitors. You offer them the third option: a placement inside a magazine their own clients actually pick up and keep, with real circulation and readership numbers attached to it.

Day to day, that means finding the practices, studios and wellness-oriented businesses that belong in front of this readership, having a real conversation with the owner, matching them to the right placement, and closing it. After that you stay the relationship: you check in on how the campaign performed and you renew it for the next issue.

You are not cold-dialing a national list from a script. You are working the studios, centers and practices you already know or can easily get in front of, selling something you can hand someone a printed copy of.

Sell the placement you would recommend to a friend who runs the studio.
How we expect every conversation to go
Good to know

Before you apply

Is this really commission-only?

Yes. There is no base salary and no draw, and there is also no cap. You earn on every campaign you close, and the commission structure is laid out plainly on the first call so you can decide whether the math works for you before you invest any time.

Do I need publishing or media sales experience?

It helps, but it is not the requirement. What matters more is that you are comfortable in the wellness and spiritual world, or willing to learn it fast, and that you can walk into a studio, a practice or a shop and have a straight conversation with the owner. Many of our best reps came from that world themselves: former practitioners, studio managers, event organizers.

What do I actually sell?

Everything on our advertising page: print placements in every bi-monthly issue, digital display on creationsmag.com, ad design services, and advertorial features written with the client. Real products with real circulation and readership numbers behind them, not vague "exposure".

Is there a territory, or do we compete?

Accounts are assigned, not scrambled for. When you open an account it is yours, and we keep a shared record of who is working what so two reps never approach the same practice in the same week.

How much time does it take?

That is up to you. Some reps work this alongside a wellness practice or another role and treat it as an add-on income stream; others make it their main thing. We care about the conversations you have, not the hours you log.

What support do I get?

A media kit and rate card, print specs and deadlines, digital creative specs, and a team that designs the ads and writes the advertorial features with your client. You sell and manage the relationship; we handle production and delivery.

What you would sell

Real products, with real circulation

Every placement runs in a bi-monthly print issue distributed to nearly 900 locations, on creationsmag.com, or both, so what you promise a client is exactly what lands in front of readers.

Print

Full page down to a business card

Print ads from a full page to a directory-style business-card listing, running in every bi-monthly issue and picked up by hand at nearly 900 locations across NYC and Long Island. The workhorse for a practice or studio building steady local business.

Digital

Squares and wide banners

Placements on the homepage, article pages, category and issue grids, and the site footer, running to over 20,000 monthly page views on creationsmag.com. An easy add-on to a print schedule or a standalone start for a client testing the waters.

Advertorial

A feature, not an ad

A full feature written with the client in the magazine's own voice, clearly labeled as sponsored. The highest-value thing on your list, and the one practitioners get most excited about, because it reads like the editorial they trust.

Ad design

Design services

Many clients arrive without finished artwork. Our team designs the ad and, when asked, drafts the copy in the magazine's voice for approval, which turns a hesitant prospect into a booked campaign.

Who this fits

You would do well here if

  • You know the wellness and spiritual world, or want to. You can walk into a yoga studio, an acupuncture practice or a health-food store and speak the owner's language, or you are genuinely drawn to learning it.
  • You are comfortable asking for the sale. Warmth opens the door, but this is a closing role. The commission rewards the person who follows up before the next issue's deadline.
  • You want the upside, not the salary. No base means no ceiling. If a predictable paycheck is what you need right now, this is honestly not the right role.
  • You are organized on your own. Nobody is going to chase your pipeline for you. You keep track of who you spoke to, what issue they are booked for, and when you said you would call back.
  • You want to represent something you believe in. This is a magazine that has stood for wellness being whole, body, mind and spirit, for 40 years. That is an easy thing to be proud of in a meeting.

Media sales experience is a plus, not a prerequisite. Practitioners, studio owners, event organizers and small-business backgrounds all translate well, because all of them are relationship work.

How it works

From apply to first commission

  1. Step one

    You apply

Use the form below. Tell us which part of the region you know and what you have sold before, and attach a resume if you have one handy. It is not required.

  2. Step two

    We talk, plainly

A straight conversation about the commission structure, what is realistic in your first ninety days, and whether the math works for you. No pitch, no pressure.

  3. Step three

    You get equipped

Media kit, rate card, print deadlines, digital specs, and a walk through past issues so you can show a prospect exactly where their ad will run.

  4. Step four

    You sell, we deliver

You open the account and own the relationship. We design the ads, write the advertorial features, produce the issue, and report the numbers. You get paid on what you close.

Straight answers

What we will not pretend

Commission-only is not for everyone, and we would rather say so now than three weeks in. There is no base, no draw against future earnings, and no guaranteed first month. The first sixty days are the hardest, because you are building a pipeline from a standing start.

What we can promise is that the product is real, the circulation numbers are honest, the accounts you open are yours, and nobody here will ask you to oversell a wellness practitioner to hit a number.

Other ways in

Not a salesperson?

Sales is the role we are actively hiring for, but it is not the only door.

  • Contribute a piece: articles, essays, poetry and reviews, from first-time writers and long-time practitioners alike.
  • Send a general application: pick "general interest" on the form and tell us what you do. We keep good people on file.
  • Join the circles: comment on articles and talk with other readers, a good way to see how our community engages.
