He feels as though an angel had visited
but he cannot tell, not knowing
what one would look like.
Would it be a person
Imposing, serious,
very righteous looking
with ample wings,
implying something like a statue,
defying air with too much weight,
perhaps a bird with a human face
but that would border on the grotesque
a butterfly though light, too brief a life
too inconsequential.
Then it dawned on him
Might it be light
pouring from nowhere;
Would there be a voice ?
Would he be ready to hear?
